Gail Harvey’s Acting workshop

Acting Workshop Header

Are you eager to get started as an actor but not sure how? Are you interested in pursuing an acting career and need information on how to get started? Are you an actor already and need advice on how to try to advance your career?

Award winning Director/producer Gail Harvey, Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures, Some Things That Stay, The Line, Murdoch Mysteries is holding a workshop to help actors gain insight into the audition process, what happens when you book a job, what you need to know about being on a set, and how to work with a director.

Three hours of the workshop will be devoted to auditioning. Actors will read for Gail Harvey and casting director Marsha Chesley King, Living in Your Car, The Line, as if it was a normal audition and receive feedback. Other participants will watch and be able to ask questions.

Three hours will be devoted to blocking, rehearsing and shooting scenes, allowing actors to gain experience, understand what a real set is like, and how to work with a director.

A cameraman and monitor will be provided for the auditioning and scene work, so everyone can watch the process.

An hour will be spent discussing all things business related, like head shots, resumes, and demo reels, with samples being shown and demo reels being screened.

There will be a questions and answer period where advice on anything the performer needs help with will be addressed.

Award winning producer/writer Paula J. Smith Less Than Kind, Paradise Falls, Shadow Lake and 2010 double Gemini award winner actor Cle Bennett Barney’s Version, The Line, Guns  will be joining the workshop and answering questions.
